February Roundup⋆꙳•❅*̩‧͙

So many people hate this book because the characters are unlikeable. I don't think I ever have a problem with that. I might even prefer to read books with unlikable characters. I couldn't put this one down!!!!! The plot was interesting and each charachter's problems made me feel better about myself.

This is my kind of book! My favorite books are about dysfunctional women in their 20s, the more unlikable the better. This was a little triggering as someone who was serially cheated on by someone named James, but that's such a common name I just have to get over it at this point. This book was nothing crazy but it's right up my alley.

I saw this one in the theater with my dad -- so fun! Horror-comedy is a vastly underappreciated genre. I feel so lucky to like horror movies. What a feast for the eyes this movie was, and what strong performances! Gave it an 8 because it didn't like blow my mind and I tend to be a little too conservative with my ratings I'm sorry.

The most delightfully indulgent reality competition show ever. The drama is ridiculous. Not to spoil but some players played an amazing game. Tara and Johnny are Jenna and Tracy in another life and I loooove them.

This is the book that they're making into a movie where Odessa A'Zion was cast as a mexican character... she dropped out and claimed she didn't know? I know I am not allowed to have an opinion on it, but the problem is she would've fit the character reeeeeaaally well. TOo bad that would be like actully fucked up. Okay but this book was really good. It made me want to be more creative and thoughtful about the way I listen to music. I liked the unlikable main character (see my next book on the list), but I didn't love the ending and I wish I could say something about it here. Ugh now I'm feeling self conscious about how shallow and boring all my opinions are. At least it's fun to type and see it on the website that nobody looks at.

Dragged Eamonn to the theater with me for this one. I read the book when it came out and absolutely loved it. I was at a point in my life then where I really enjoyed leaning into my sadness, despite the harm it caused me. Now that I'm out of that moment this was a much harder story for me to handle. It was still phenomenal, espcially the performances. The younger Jupe was so amazing I'm wondering why other kid actors are so horrible. The choice to cast his brother as the actor playing Hamlet was absolutely inspired! When I was in middle school my cousin and I made a fan account for Noah Jupe because we thought he was going to have a wildly successful career and we wanted to capitalize on this by getting in on the ground floor. The account has since been compromised but I feel validated nonetheless.

Wowowowowow. Go see in the theater asap. The reaction to Obamna alone made it worth it. Why is this show in Vice purgatory? Can somebody send me a link to the google drive?

This roundup was a little less heavy than the last one... I've been a busy girl! Did anybody read until this?

January Roundup⋆˚꩜.ᐟ

Read some big good books this month

I have been reading this since AUGUST and finally finished this month. I've been bouncing between reading and listening, which is kinda fun. I realized I read two long-ass books about pairs of twin brothers which is cool I guess. I loooove biblical allusions too so this was a treat!!!! I wish it were 10000 pages so I could read it forever and ever. I read Grapes of Wrath in high school, but I read it in a day during quarantine to prove to myself that I could and retained very little of it, so maybe I should try again. Timshel!

Me and my roommate/bff read this one together which was delightful. It was a long one (900 pages wow) so it took a while. I also have a habit of reading 3 books at once so that dragged it out a bit. We each gave up multiple times but finally made it through. This was a bit of a bummer, to the point where it felt a little ridiculous, but I still likeed it! Dominic felt like a Chuck Palahniuk protaganist, and I'm kind of a sucker for that -- am I a pick-me? Whatever. I liked this book. I read this right after finishing East of Eden -- someone should do a book club or essay or something about these books together. Both are Cain and Abel stories with marked differences. I almost feel like making a stupid venn diagram. Now we just have to watch the miniseries with Mark Ruffalo, my aunt said it was amazing. Stay tuned.

Eamonn got me Minecraft for my switch for Christmas and I've been playing way too much to still be this bad at it. I keep getting killed because I fumble with the controller while trying to close the door. Hopefully I get better soon because it's really quite fun.

I had a stomach bug for FOUR DAYS and watched so much TV. I watched 2 full seasons of 30 Rock and kept having fever dreams involving Kenneth, Liz, and Jack. This show is just perfect and I will never pass up an opportunity to rewatch it. Sophomore year of college I used to watch an episode on the stair master every day and it was so comedically dense that I barely even had time to think about how bad my legs hurt.

I had this one on hold at the library for 6 months and finally got it! I loooove Miranda July. Kajillionaire and Me and You and Everyone We Know are some of my favorite movies. I have only read her short fiction, so this was so wonderful to get into. It reminded me a lot of Mellissa Broder's books, with the unusal highly sexual female protaganist. I love characters like her! I do wonder how much was based on July -- her level of fame and multimedia success seemed a little on the nose. This is from the perspective of a 23-year-old, but I love reading books about weird, lively, older women. Someday I want to be like her, without all the infidelity.

5.5/10

Watched this with my girlssssss. It was fun and stupid but a good time and it went by really fast.

7.5/10

This was my favorite movie of all time in High School. It sucks that so many of the cast turned out to be assholes at best. It's still really fun and well-done, but not quite as perfect as I once thought it was. I think the romance was the weakest part of the film -- I never really bought the chemistry. The soundtrack is still amazing, and I just love how stylized the movie is.

9.5/10

Wowowowowow this was almost perfect!!!! The last one was a suprise cancer mom movie which was tough, but it was still great. This one was even better. Ralph Fiennes is one of the best working actors right now. It was discusting, scary, funny, beautiful, even sweet. I explained the entire plot to Eamonn while driving in a blizzard to Culver's which took 30 minutes. He is fascinated by it but can't stomach disturbing movies. I told him how we are in a golden age of Horror, and he said he was sad he had to miss out. I think that's part of what I like about horror movies. They can be some of the best cinema out there, but there's a natual barrier to entry which can make it more exciting. I think that makes me sounds like an asshole but I still believe it.

Eamonn and I are watching Silo and I am so into it!!! This is the most I've seen Eamonn be into a show -- we even watched 2 hour long episodes in one day which is crazy for him. When we were watching the pilot he said "i love this show it's like... video game vibes" which killed me.

This was my other stomach bug binge. Psych is my biggest comfort show. I have watched it in the wake of all of my breakups. Lucy and I used to watch it every monday and tuesday after school, and it's such a fun rewatch because I actually understand Shaun's endless pop culture references. This time around I am also really appreciating the y2k slackercore of it all. Shaun kinda gives me gender envy if i'm being honest. I think I will keep watching post-bug.

December 2025 .☘︎ ݁˖

I honestly didn't read or watch much this month. I was definitely on my phone too much. ≽(•⩊ •マ≼

9.5/10 woohoo

I finally read the Pisces, which I LOVED. I have now read all of Broder's novels which is making me really sad because I wish I had 10 more to read. This one was as delightful as the other two. I am very fascinated by the concept of sex and love addiction, and felt like I related a lot to the protaganist of this one.

a tough 2/10 unfortunately

I also read this one, which was more timely than I ever thought it would be. The author is currently at the center of online discourse after writing an artical about Brigitte Bardot's politics following her death this month. I unfortunately did not like this book at all. It was written like a college paper, which is fine, but not what I wanted. There were many ridiculously long quotes from other books which was annoying because we were promised a memoir. I am, however, on her side in regards to the other stuff. People are attacking her on the grounds of being a fat person writing for Vogue which is crazy.

Still watching Nurse Jackie. I love it so much. I don't have access to my parents' netflix anymore, so I get the DVDs from the library which feels very analog and quaint. I feel connected to all the other women (probably) who have watched each DVD.

Saw this one... and looooved it. I went with my aunt on a Monday night, and the theater was packed! The only two talkers in the whole theater were in the seats on either side of us, which seems to always happen to me. It was less stressful than Uncut Gems and Good Time, but still plenty stressful. I have been on the timmy bandwagon since seeing Lady Bird twice in theaters, and he's still the best, though I miss his softer 2018 energy.

Eamonn and I are watching the Harry Potter series. We've gotten to number 5 so far. He read the books, but has never seen the films and has forgetting the plot of all of them, which has made the rewatch delightful. He really doesn't like movies much, so it's really exciting to find something he actually enjoys watching with me :).
